Asset Value Recovery

At CSAD, we make every effort to repair, refurbish and resell your decommissioned electronics equipment to reduce the amount of electronics waste and to maximize the value you can receive from your recycled equipment. Whether we are receiving equipment that is new or old, our teams have extensive experience and training necessary to identify, test, and refurbish any type of electronic equipment we obtain from clients. As a NAID AAA Certified company in both Data Erasure and Data Destruction services, you can be confident that your equipment is being handled in the most secure and professional manner possible.

Our Asset Value Recovery Process

Sorting

After receiving equipment at our facility, our sorting team carefully goes through all incoming equipment and separates each by device category and sales potential. All devices are then affixed with a unique barcode identifier to each piece of client equipment which identify the related customer, pickup date, and a description of the equipment. All item and barcode information is stored in Inventory Reports and our Cloud-based Inventory Management Portal, both of which our customers have access to view their equipment processing in real-time.

Data Sanitization

We understand the importance of our customers’ data security concerns and have dedicated an entire department to ensuring the secure erasure or destruction of all customer data and physical identifiers.

For devices with removable storage media, our team removes all storage media from devices, logging the removable storage media in our Cloud-based Inventory Management Portal, and transfers all removable storage media to our locked, secure data erasure cage where it will be sanitized or destroyed.

For devices without removable storage media, our team performs data erasure or destruction procedures on devices within the department and logs the result of each device within our Cloud-based Inventory Management Portal after being successfully sanitized or destroyed.

Testing

For equipment requiring testing and repair prior to being listed for sale, our testing department performs diagnostics and testing on equipment to quickly identify issues and fix equipment prior to being resold to end users.

If equipment requires additional resources to test or requires highly specialized personnel to test, (i.e. Medical-grade equipment), our company has established relationships with specialists and organizations in our region and is capable of testing even the most complex equipment.

Our company is very aware of data security concerns from our clients and always securely wipe equipment that may contain sensitive data, as well as removing physical company identifiers or asset tags prior to resale. See our Secure Data Destruction services page for more information.

Engineering

Our highly trained team of NAID AAA Certified engineers are ready to tackle any type of electronics equipment our clients bring us. Our Engineering Department is broken down into specialty divisions by equipment type allowing us to make sure we have the best people on the job to repair or refurbish our clients’ equipment for resale. Our specialty divisions are broken into the following equipment categories:

  1. PC Desktops, Laptops and All-in-One Devices

  2. Apple Towers, Macbooks, and iMac Devices

  3. Tablets, Phones, and MP3 players

  4. Networking and Server Equipment

Equipment processed through our Engineering Department is carefully examined as a secondary verification of data erasure to ensure the removal of customer data and physical company identifiers has been performed prior to resale. See our Secure Data Destruction services page for more information.

Listing

After processing through our testing or engineering departments, equipment is sent to our listing department where it is either prepared to be listed on one of our eCommerce selling platforms or prepared for wholesale distribution.

eCommerce Selling Platform Listings: We tailor which eCommerce sales platforms we use for different types of equipment based on our experience selling similar equipment over the last 10 years and perform regular review and updates on our pricing and listings based on market demand and outside eCommerce research.

Wholesale Distribution: For items we obtain in quantity or for older equipment without an eCommerce market demand, we utilize various wholesale relationships to sell items that would have otherwise not been sellable through normal eCommerce channels. We make every attempt to sell our clients’ equipment before deciding to have it securely recycled at one of our downstream R2/RIOS recycling partners. See our Electronics Recycling services page for more information on how we recycle end-of-life electronics equipment.

Sales Analysis & Reporting

After years of operating within the Information Technology Asset Disposition (ITAD) industry, we understand the delicate balance between the market price of refurbished electronics equipment and the relative demand for products by our target population.

Our dedicated Market Analytics team works diligently to ensure our pricing and listing strategies stay competitive in the market by interpreting industry sales data and eCommerce equipment trends.

After selling items to end-users on our eCommerce platforms or through our wholesale relationships, our Sales Reporting team reconciles all sales records and calculates payouts to those customers who elect to use our Percentage of Net Profit model. See our Asset Tracking and Reporting services page for more information on our reporting capabilities to clients.

Hardware Dismantling

After passing through our previous departments up the processing chain, some equipment may be deemed broken or no longer saleable through our normal channels. In these situations, our Hardware Dismantling team works to separate and salvage electronics components for recycling or reuse. All component items obtained from dismantling are either reused to fix other equipment provided by our clients or recycled using the appropriate downstream recycling channels.

We have partnered with several local R2/RIOS certified recycling organizations and commodity metals recyclers which allow us to recycle virtually all equipment we obtain from customers.
